This book was handwritten by the Shaykh (may Allah have mercy upon him); in it he established important glimpses into the fundamentals of Fiqh for the beginners in seeking knowledge. He did so in a succinct and profound style in which he clarified the ruling and its categories, knowledge and its categories, speech and the command and prohibition, the general and the specific, the unrestricted and the restricted, the overall and the detailed, what is apparent and what needs interpretation, abrogation, reports, consensus, analogy, contradiction and the arrangement of proofs, Fatwa and its requirements, Ijtihād (independent reasoning), and imitation. The Shaykh concluded the book with questions aimed at entrenching the information mentioned in the book, which was part of the curriculum of Usūl al-Fiqh for the students at the academic institutes affiliated to Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.
