This book is a summary and elucidation of the meanings of a treatise on the creed, given as part of the answers provided by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 728 AH) to the people of Tadmur. Brief as it is, this treatise is one of the best to be written by Shaykh al-Islam on this topic. So, the erudite Shaykh wanted to summarize it and make its meanings clearer and easier to understand, while making certain additions and omissions, as needed, in a way that does not affect the intended purpose. The Shaykh was keenly interested in producing this book in a perfect way, amending some phrases and deleting others and putting some explanatory additions. Some of these remain in the original form written by his hand and some in printed form within the published book.
